Guided Tour : Churches
Some of the East Village’s most stunning architecture can be seen in its churches. Dates of these religious structures range from 1799 to 1970, and come in a variety of styles and sizes. This includes the oldest site of continuous religious worship in New York City, one of the city’s very few brutalist churches, and one of the only houses of worship to at one time serve all three of what were historically the city’s three main religions. Their diversity reflects the various immigrant groups who made the East Village their home over that span of time.
