Description & Building Alterations

These two rowhouses have been heavily altered, and therefore no longer resemble their original 1851 design (which likely would have been identical). All the brickwork has been replaced and the cornices have been removed. Both buildings were likely built as single-family houses with raised doorways accessed by stoops. By 1916, according to a historic map, the ground floors were used as stores; by the 1980s these stores had been converted to residential units (see tax photo in sidebar).
