98 Second Avenue | Block : 447 | Lot #6
Description & Building Alterations
This building was originally erected as a four-story Greek Revival-style row house in 1842-43. It was converted to Italianate during alterations designed by William Jose in 1873, during which the fifth story was added together with new lintels and an Italianate-style cornice. The two-story storefront was installed in 1897, with a new wrought-iron fire escape.
The present facade features molded window lintels, bracketed sills, and a bracketed pressed-metal cornice with dentils and frieze panels.
