Description & Building Alterations

This 12-story mixed use building was constructed in 2014. It was designed by Avinash Malhotra Architects. Though vacant for some time before construction began, this lot was once five lots that held five separate buildings. Prior to demolition, 5 Avenue D was a five-story old-law tenement, 1 & 3 Avenue D/312 & 314 East 2nd Street (the corner site) was three three-story buildings that appear to have been row houses, 308 & 310 East 2nd Street were two three-story row houses, 306 East 2nd Street was a six-story tenement erected in 1901 by architect Michael Bernstein, and 302 & 304 East 2nd Street were two six-story tenements.

What is the Building Blocks Project
