Description & Building Alterations

This pre-law tenement was constructed in 1868 and it was designed by the same architect, William E. Waring, in cooperation with the same owner, Charles Grissler, of the adjacent building at No. 73 East 2nd Street.

Like its neighbor, this tenement is in Italianate style as evident by the bowed window lintels and sills. The building also features a bracketed and central curbed cornice. The first floor was utilized as a store in 1928 and a storefront flush with the building line when created. This floor was converted back into apartments in 1938 and has been resurfaced.
