Description & Building Alterations

This five-story brick tenement building was built in 1871 in the Italianate Revival style. Prior to the construction of this building, a slaughter house was present on the lot. The extant building was designed by the same architect in cooperation with the same owner of the adjacent building at No. 73 East 2nd Street, and in a very similar fashion.

The first floor of the facade is made of brownstone, though it has been resurfaced. Other facade features include a bracketed and modillioned cornice with a curbed central piece upon an arched parapet, arched window lintels and bracketed sills.
