64 Third Avenue | Block : 556-1 | Lot #20
Description & Building Alterations
This is a vacant lot as of February 2025. It is anticipated that a new building will be constructed spanning this and the adjacent lots to the south, but plans have yet to be filed with the NYC Department of Buildings.
Demolished in 2024, the previous buildings on this lot were two matching four-story row houses (64 Third Avenue and 122 East 11th Street), likely both built between 1838 and 1839. Between the 1837 and 1839 tax assessment records, the lot rose in value from $4,000 to $6,500; the tax assessment record for 1838 is missing, so the original owner and exact date of construction are uncertain. No. 64 Third Avenue, like No. 122 East 11th Street, was probably built as a three-story building and had its top floor added later in the 19th century.
