Description & Building Alterations

This five-story with basement pre-law tenement was built in 1862 by the heirs of Stephen Whitney, who purchased many properties on this block in 1825.

The present building features an entrance enframed by ornamented cast-iron columns with partial capitals, and the original iron cornice. The window lintels have been removed and the ground floor has been refaced with concrete. The stores on the ground floor were turned back into apartments in 1953.
