A New Building permit on file for 287 East 4^th Street dates to 1998. Little is known about the previous building on this lot, but there was a tenement building here as early as 1890.

In that year, the three-story, three-family building with an attic was converted into a four-story, six-family building with offices occupying the ground floor. A building on the lot was demolished prior to the 1980’s, likely the same tenement. The current building is five stories tall with a brick façade.
