268 East 4th Street | Block : 386 | Lot #20
Description & Building Alterations
The building at 268 East 4th Street was constructed in 1895 by architect Max Muller, along with another building formerly at 270 East 4th Street.
Both buildings were five-story Old Law Tenement buildings for 20 families each with stores on the ground floor. The first floor and ground-level basement have been renovated and the storefronts have been replaced by a plain wall with a cement-like finish. The upper floors of the building retain original detail in decorative brickwork and terra cotta ornamentation around windows and between stories.
