Description & Building Alterations

The building at 268 East 4^th Street was constructed in 1895 by architect Max Muller, along with another building formerly at 270 East 4^th Street.

Both buildings were five-story Old Law Tenement buildings for 20 families each with stores on the ground floor. The first floor and ground-level basement have been renovated and the storefronts have been replaced by a plain wall with a cement-like finish. The upper floors of the building retain original detail in decorative brickwork and terra cotta ornamentation around windows and between stories.
