Description & Building Alterations

The building at No. 217 East 7^th Street was constructed in 2000 on a lot that had been vacant since at least the 1980s, as indicated by a tax photo. At some point, lot 44 was combined with lot 45 to create a larger lot. Alteration permits dating to 1885 list the previous structure on lot 44 as a five-story tenement building containing stores and apartments. Alteration permits for the building formerly on lot 45 date to 1905, also indicating a five-story tenement building. A demolition permit filed in 1979 indicates the destruction of one or both of these buildings.

The lot number has been updated from 044-045 to 7501 upon conversion into condominiums. The facade features various brick patterns in different shades. The four-bay wide building contains a balustrade at roof level.
