Description & Building Alterations

The six-story new law tenement at No. 219 East 7th Street was constructed in 1902 for owner Max Goed and designed by area architects Horenburger & Straub. It was originally occupied by two stores and twenty-four families.

By 1936, the stores on the cellar level were removed and today the building is entirely residential.  It is seven bays wide and clad in brick with stone detailing including a variety of window surrounds and string courses.  The facade wall curves out slightly at bays 2 &3 and 5 & 6.  The building is missing its cornice, lost prior to a tax photo from the 1980s.
