Description & Building Alterations

This three-story row house dates to the 1840s according to tax records.

In 1905 the building’s exterior and interior were altered when owner Michael Kramer of 311 East 74^th Street installed a new bathroom, built a new skylight, moved the interior stairs, and installed a new floor in the basement, and had a new galvanized iron cornice placed on the building. In 1998 the building was damaged in a fire necessitating a great deal of structural and reconstructive work.
