Description & Building Alterations

Originally portions of lot 5 and lot 6, the current building was constructed in 1932 combining two four-story houses constructed in 1845.

In 1932 the Stuyvesant Neighborhood House converted the two houses into one, based on the settlement house already located on the then Lot 6. The basement and first floor were used as janitors’  quarters and social hall, the upper floors as club rooms and the top floor as leaders’ living room.

All historic features have been stripped as the facade has been heavily altered since 1932.
