71 East 2nd Street | Block : 443 | Lot #22
Description & Building Alterations
This four-story brick building was originally built as a two-and-a-half or three-story Greek Revival-style row house in 1835 and was raised to four full stories in an alteration that dates to 1885. The rowhouse was originally owned by Sidney P. Ingraham.
The facade features Flemish-bond brickwork on the upper story. The cornice has been removed and the basement and the first floor have been altered. The stoop was removed and the entrance was moved to the lower level. These alterations likely occurred between 1913 and 1948, due to the change of use (from office to store) of these lower floors.
