Description & Building Alterations

The building at 69 Avenue C was constructed in 1999 and replaced a five-story tenement building with stores on the ground floor.

The tenement was renovated a number of times throughout its history including a change in occupancy, from twelve residential units down to four. The building had been demolished by the time a tax photo was taken of the property in the 1980’s. The two-story building today has two apartments on the second floor and a commercial space on the first floor. It is a corner building, austere in its design and clad in brick with a flat roof.

What is the Building Blocks Project
