Description & Building Alterations

Built as one of two sister, pre-law tenement buildings, this 5-story corner lot building was constructed circa 1874. Now stuccoed and stripped of most of it’s details, this building originally featured a deep cornice, identical to the one on its twin at 193 Avenue C, that was on both the Avenue C and East 12th facades and lintels that were likely incised with a detail. The facade would have also been exposed brick.
