This lot is a community garden owned by NYC Parks Department.

Previously, there was a six-story, twenty-two family New Law Tenement on this lot that had been built in 1903 by architect Alfred E. Badt. The building was demolished by the time a tax photo was taken of the lot in the early 1980’s.

What is the Building Blocks Project

The site explores the area generally considered today as the East Village: from a northern border of 14th Street to a southern border of Houston Street, Avenue D in the east to 4th Avenue/the Bowery to the west.
