605 East 11th Street | Block : 394 | Lot #66
Description & Building Alterations
Once the twin of 607 East 11th Street, 605 has lost much of its character-defining, Queen Anne details. Although the brick dog-tooth belt course between the third and fourth floors and the brick detail that should be under the center portion of the cornice still remain, without the other details and expressive cornice, the building appears flat. Additionally, the facade has been completely painted making it difficult to see the window lintels that have remained intact. The ground floor, which in this building only was used as a shop, is further altered by the removal of the stooped entrance along with the entrance surround.
Block : 394 / Lot : 066 / Building Date : 1887 / Original Owner : Frederick Heerlein / Original Use : Residential/Commercial / Original Architect : Julius Kastner
