62 Second Avenue; 60-62 Second Avenue | Block : 445 | Lot #4
Description & Building Alterations
This old law tenement building was constructed in 1897 by owner Philip Siegel and designed by architect Michael Bernstein. The tenement was to be occupied by 28 families and two stores.
The Renaissance Revival building features elaborate entrance enframement with granite columns, a modillioned door hood, and decorated terra-cotta window enframements. It appears that the top cornice and the stoop have been removed, and the entrance was moved to the basement level in 1958. The cornice can be seen in the 1980s tax photo in the sidebar.
