Description & Building Alterations

This five-story brick tenement was built in 1860 according to tax records. This tenement was built as a multiple family dwelling before any laws were implemented to regulate living conditions, and is known as a “pre-law” tenement. The straight lintels with classical moldings and the scrolled brackets on the cornice are typical of the Italianate style that was popular for residential construction at the time.
