Description & Building Alterations

This five-story brick tenement was built in 1877 by owner E. T. Defreest, and designed by architect George T. Johnson. It was originally occupied by two families per floor with stores on the first floor.

The facade features the original storefront, which consists of pilasters flanking the entrance and a ground floor cornice. The facade also features pedimented window lintels on the second floor, bracketed sills on the third, fourth, and fifth story windows, and a bracketed and modillioned cornice.
