439 East 9th Street | Block : 437 | Lot #33
Description & Building Alterations
This four-bay wide, four-story tenement was originally erected in 1852. The historical galvanized-iron roof cornice was replaced by a parapet during an alteration in 1945.
A map of East Village art galleries from 1983 (see sidebar) shows that Nine was at this location.
The current facade features stepped brick parapet with iron railings, stripped lintels and sills, the existing fluted iron pilasters at first story were probably installed in early 20th century.
