Description & Building Alterations

The apartment building at 43 Avenue C was completed in 2003 and contains twenty-two residential units.

The building is seven stories high and faced in brick. A photo from the New York Public Library dating to 1935 reveals that this property was once occupied by a Gothic-style church, vacant in 1937 but owned by the Holy Cross Protestant Episcopal Church, along with the building to its north. There is no information regarding when the church was demolished, but a tax photo shows that a squat, one-story building with a medical office sign occupied the property by the 1980’s.
