Description & Building Alterations

No. 237 East 3rd Street has been used as a green space since 1986. It is owned by the New York City Parks and Recreation Department. Known as Brisas Del Caribe, it was created by Mary and Angel Aponte. Read more in an article in the sidebar from Hope magazine.

The former five-story Old Law Tenement on this lot was constructed in 1889 and housed twenty-one families. It appears that there were also two stores in the cellar. No records indicate when the structure may have been demolished.
