Description & Building Alterations

This Renaissance Revival six-story tenement was constructed in 1897. It is located in the East Village/Lower East Side Historic District.

The present facade features a historic fire escape, galvanized-iron cornice and frieze, rough brick banding, decorative molding courses, stone lintels and pediments and brick piers on corbelled brick on the top story among other decorations. The ground story was reconfigured in an alteration made in 1942. More information can be found in the Designation Report, linked in the “Additional Resources” section.
