Description & Building Alterations
This four-bay wide, five-story with basement brick tenement was built in 1865. The buildings at Nos. 35-41 East 1st Street were originally owned by the same person, Conrad Schuz, and share an identical facade. In 1896, the storefront underwent an alteration and plate glass was installed.
The present facade of No. 41 features a molded curved door hood with carved brackets, curved window lintels and a bracketed and modillioned cornice with a paneled frieze in the Italianate style.
