334 East 5th Street | Block : 446 | Lot #25
Description & Building Alterations
This five-story with basement pre-law tenement building was built in 1867. The facade features a bracketed cornice, ornate arched window lintels, bracketed sills and a door hood. The basement was altered, but the entrance on the first story remains. New windows on the upper stories were installed in the rear wall in 1908. Most of the features such as the cornice and lintels appear to be original. Ellen Stewart, founder of Cafe La Mama, resided at this address.
