Description & Building Alterations

This five-story tenement was built in 1862 by the heirs of Stephen Whitney, who purchased many properties on this block in 1825. In 1866, it was leased to Leonhard Kipferl.

The current building features an entrance flanked by cast-iron columns, a brick frieze, and the original iron cornice. The window lintels have been removed and the ground floor has been refaced with concrete and reconfigured.
