269 East 7th Street | Block : 377 | Lot #53
Description & Building Alterations
This was originally constructed as a single-family rowhouse in 1845, and was likely only three stories tall at that time. The building was later tenementized and is now a multi-family building. Today, the facade has been refaced, although the parlor floor is still accessed by a stoop. Based on DOB records, it is possible that the first refacing happened around 1925 when new windows were cut. Despite the loss of ornament, the building features ornate wood doors that are historic but perhaps not original.
