218 East 5th Street | Block : 460 | Lot #20
Description & Building Alterations
This five story brick and stone apartment building was constructed in the Italianate style in circa 1864-66. It features segmental fenestration and original iron railings on the stoop. The basement storefront retains the historic cast-iron columns. Other architectural details include projecting sills, segmental lintels on brackets at the main entryway, molded window lintels, and bracketed cornice with frieze panels. It was originally built as one in a row of three buildings with 214 and 216 East 5th Street. The facade has since been painted.
