No. 217 was built in 1874 as a five story tenement and designed by A.H. Blankenstein. It has had its original details, like the window lintels and sills, cornice and entry removed, and the entire facade has been stuccoed and painted.

At some point, the ground floor did have shops because in 1946 they were replaced with apartments.
