Description & Building Alterations

This five-story with penthouse building was originally constructed in 1845, probably as a three-story row house. It was converted to business use in the early 20th century and back to residential use in 1999. During an alteration in 2000, a fifth story and penthouse were added. The current building features a molded roof cornice, stripped lintels and sills, engaged pilasters flanking the entrance, and a set-back top story with two dormers.

The local appliance store Bloom & Krup, described in a 1938 New York Times article as “dealers in gas ranges and refrigerators,” was previously located here.

This building was converted to a condo in 2000. It was previously known as Lot 5.
