Description & Building Alterations

No. 202 East 7th Street is a six-story, New Law Tenement building constructed in 1905.

This six story, four bay structure is clad in brick with a pattern of recessed horizontal courses.  The windows at the upper four floors have flat arches with stone voussoirs and decorative keystones.  The second floor window surrounds are stone and have scrolled keystones.  A cornice once adorned the building but has been removed since the 1980’s.  Originally the building contained seventeen families and two retail spaces on the ground floor. The ground floor today has one retail space, as the two original spaces were combined in 1949 to be used as a launderette.
