178-184 East 2nd Street was built as twin new law tenement buildings, each housing 34 families. Architect Alfred E. Badt designed the buildings in the Renaissance Revival style, using light brick offset with terra cotta details featuring classic motifs. The ground-floor stores have been filled in, but aside from that, the exterior retains most of its ornamentation.

This was formerly lot 49.

What is the Building Blocks Project
