Description & Building Alterations

This five-story tenement was originally erected in 1838-39 as a three-story house. It was raised to four stories in 1871 and then to five stories in 1891, along with the building at 168 First Avenue.

The present facade features projecting bracketed cornice with decorated frieze, hooded window lintels, ornamental panels, beltcourses, and engaged pilasters flanking the main entry.
