Description & Building Alterations

This five-story tenement was constructed in 1859-1860 by original owner William S. Wright, who owned many buildings on this block. It is a pre-law tenement that is part of a row of six at Nos. 335 to 345 East 10th Street that was part of a larger group of eighteen.

The red brick facade features light blue stone lintels and sills, which suggests the building was originally designed in the Italianate style. The building originally consisted of a cornice, which was removed, and the location of the cornice was covered with a grey stone. Several lintels on the east facade have been shaved and signage has been affixed to the corner.

Records indicate that in 1910, the store at ground level was to be divided for a saloon. By 1920, the ground level was a United Cigar Store.
