Description & Building Alterations

While the original building permit is missing, this four story building was likely erected in 1853. Commercial space occupied the first and second floor while the third and fourth floor housed apartments.  The building appears to be designed in the Italianate style which would have replace the Greek Revival style rowhouses of the 1830’s and 1840’s.  The second floor windows date from 1920 when the storefront was remodeled.  The first floor storefront was also altered during this time, but has since been changed further.  All four floors of the building are currently residential.
