118 East 4th Street | Block : 445 | Lot #25
Description & Building Alterations
This six-story building was originally erected as one of the two tenements at 116-118 East 4th Street, designed by William Jose and built in 1869.
In 1905, the front wall of the first story was removed and new piers were constructed. The entrance was moved from the iron stoop to steps inside the building line during alterations that took place in 1930. At that time, two of the four stores on the ground floor were converted into rooms to be connected to the rear apartment.
The facade features a decorated cornice with brackets, arched window lintels and bracketed sills.
