28 East 2nd Street | Block : 458 | Lot #35
Description & Building Alterations
The row houses at Nos. 26 to 30 East 2nd Street recall a time when this portion of Second Avenue was a very desirable residential thoroughfare. The surrounding blocks were once lined with single-family houses such as these.
This building at No. 28 was originally a two-and-a-half-story Greek Revival-style row house with a basement. The third story was installed with a neo-Grec-style cornice during later alterations, likely in 1871. Parts of the historic entrance enframement and window lintels are no longer visible today.
