The row houses at Nos. 26 to 30 East 2nd Street recall a time when this portion of Second Avenue was a very desirable residential thoroughfare. The surrounding blocks were once lined with single-family houses like these.

This 2 1/2 story building, as part of the above row of houses, features a mansard roof with two dormers, and some historic two-over-two wood window sashes. It was formerly a two-and-a-half-story Greek Revival-style house with a basement; the Second Empire-style mansard roof was added later in time. The historic cornice has been removed.
