99-103 Avenue C | Block : 389 | Lot #32
Description & Building Alterations
The New Law Tenement building on lot 32 was constructed in 1903 by Horenburger and Straub. The six-story building is nine bays wide and faced in red brick with detailed stone trim. The ornamentation around the windows varies and is classically inspired. The storefront has been modernized.
The building housed twenty-seven families and replaced three individual buildings that were on the lot prior to 1903. A cornice had been missing from the top for some time, and although it was recently replaced, grey cement can be seen below it where the original cornice was hung. Today the ground floor has two commercial spaces and there are twenty-two residential units in the building.
