9 Avenue B | Block : 384 | Lot #6, 7
Description & Building Alterations
No. 9 Avenue B was built simultaneously with its neighbor, 11 Avenue B, and designed by architect William Graul in 1877. Its original purpose as a tenement house with a storefront on the ground floor is consistent with its current use. When built, the façade was faced with brownstone and there was a metal cornice and ornamental lintels and stills at the windows. However, it was resurfaced with stucco and stripped of its ornament pre-1940.
