Description & Building Alterations
This building originally housed 22 families over ground-floor shops. The brick, stone, and terra cotta apartment building was built in the Renaissance Revival style in 1901. It features round arch fenestration at the fifth story, multi-story pilasters, fluted cast-iron columns (first story), splayed lintels (second story), foliated lintels (third/fourth stories), header brick architraves and keystone masks (fifth story), and pressed metal cornice with scrolled brackets and wreaths. Alterations include replacement storefronts, box awning, fire escape, and security gate.
The cornice, which has been removed prior to c. 1940, was restored/replaced after c. 1988 and is appropriate to the building’s style.
