64 Second Avenue | Block : 445 | Lot #6
Description & Building Alterations
This building was originally built in 1844-45 by developers Anson G. Phelps and Elisha Peck, as part of a row of four-story-and-basement row houses at 58-70 Second Avenue.
The current Arts & Crafts facade was added in 1927 during alterations designed by Louis A. Sheinart. The building now features patterned tapestry brickwork laid in Flemish Bond and a decorative parapet. In the early 1920s, the building was a private residence and doctor’s office. By the 1940s, it was converted to multiple dwellings.
