Description & Building Alterations

A five-story old law tenement on this lot was demolished in 1941 by the W.P.A. Labor Demolition Project. In 1950, a one story garage was erected, though was demolished in 2006. The current apartment building was constructed between 2007 and 2009. The garage can be seen in the 1980s tax photo at the sidebar.

What is the Building Blocks Project

The site explores the area generally considered today as the East Village: from a northern border of 14th Street to a southern border of Houston Street, Avenue D in the east to 4th Avenue/the Bowery to the west.
