519 East 12th Street | Block : 406 | Lot #55
Description & Building Alterations
There are two buildings on this lot: a four-story row house visible from the street and a back house hidden from view. Both were likely built in 1852, though the pedimented cornice of the street-facing building might date from a slightly later period. The ground floor of this front building still retains some of the original cast iron piers, moldings, as well as its historic paired doors. The wooden cedar shingle cladding, however, is likely an alteration.
