507 East 5th Street | Block : 401 | Lot #60
Description & Building Alterations
This pre-law tenement was constructed first in a row of 13 speculative tenements developed by William B. Astor in 1859-60. The first three have a smaller footprint; building progress moved east down the block.
No. 507 was designed in the Italianate style. The brownstone lintels have been partially wrapped in metal and painted. While the raised-stoop entrance has been removed, the original wood cornice is still intact.
