500 East 11th Street | Block : 404 | Lot #4
Description & Building Alterations
This six-story new law tenement was constructed in 1906 by owner Max Gold and was designed by architect Charles M. Straub. Its red brick façade features windows decorated with Renaissance Revival stonework. The majority of the lintels consist of three sections and a corbel in the center. Some windows are framed by Ionic pilasters and contain wide sills with floral ornamentation. The entrance also has pilasters topped with dentils and a corbel.
The facade previously had a galvanized iron cornice, a common architectural feature of the time. However, it has been removed. The storefront has also been renovated. Additionally, the rightmost bay on the north façade has been infilled with red brick.
