Description & Building Alterations

This building was constructed in 1902 as a new law tenement designed by Horenburger & Straub. It had 25 apartments over six stores on the ground floor and basement levels. By recessing the single, middle bay and detailing the building with light-colored belt courses, this rather simple facade was enlivened and made to appear more ornamented than it was, a design trick popular in tenements.

What is the Building Blocks Project
